Covid19 – Coronavirus.
The Committee have been keeping the situation under regular review and will naturally follow all Government advice as the situation progresses. The current position is that we have cancelled all events this year. However, we hope to be able to carry out some trips later in the year as well as the Heritage Open Days weekend and the Market Square event although these may be on a smaller scale than in previous years.
In making these decisions we have taken into consideration many factors. Currently we only have 154 available to use as planned work on 267 and 654 has had to stop. It may be some time after restrictions are lifted that we get them back on the road as they will need MoT tests when work is complete. A considerable amount of time also goes into organising events and we need a degree of certainty that an event will take place before we start expending time and money in making the necessary arrangements. In fairness to our drivers, conductors, volunteers and vehicle owners who give their time in helping to make our events so successful we do not want to end up cancelling events at short notice. All decisions the Committee take about staging or participating in events, rallies and running days are made considering the best information available at the time.
Many bus events throughout the Country have been cancelled or rescheduled so if you are planning on attending any please do check that they are going ahead before you travel.
